One Minute of Silence

In various public occasions I asked people around to join me
in One Minute of Silence.
I did not mention any reason or special occasion.
If somebody asked, I pretended not to hear it.

We were silent for silence itself.

A Scene #4: Umbrella

On Saturday October 17 2015, at exactly 14:20 CET, I entered a department store (51°92’04.02″N, 4°47’86.3789999996751″E) De Bijenkorf, Coolsingel 105, Rotterdam, and I bought a small black umbrella. With this umbrella I walked to the exit Van Oldenbarneveltplaats and left the building.
A. When it rained I would open the umbrella and walk away.
B. When it did not rain I would go back into the shop, return the umbrella, get a pay back and leave through the exit Coolsingel 105 (where I entered the building).
I did B.

A Scene #3: Corner

On Saturday June 6 2015, I walked in the Kipstraat Rotterdam in the direction of the Hoogstraat (corner Hampshire Hotel) carrying a small coffee table wrapped in plastic. At the same time a person approached the same corner (Hoogstraat, direction Kipstraat) carrying a kitchen chair wrapped in plastic. At exactly 14:20 CET we passed each other at the corner (51°92’24.09″N, 4°49’21.17″E) . After some possible unclearness in how to do this with these big objects, we continued our walks in opposite directions.

Vierkant

Before the start of the performance, the attendees were kindly asked not to shoot any pictures or videos. Nothing but the memory should remain.

A square of 200 cm by 200 cm was marked out with masking tape on the wall. The section created was painted with the same masonry paint as the rest of the wall. When the entire square was painted, the marking tape was removed and the floor was cleaned from any spilled paint.
After this was completed, you could still discern the square, but as the paint was drying the square slowly vanished, and blended in with the wall.
The attendees left when every trace had disappeared.

Vierkant was part of the Performance Festival With Traces,
(Pictura, Dordrecht, June 13 – June 28, 2015)
June 13, 2015.
